Teatre Principal d’Inca
The Teatre Principal d’Inca is the landmark theater of Mallorca’s Raiguer region. Going far beyond the scope of a standard municipal theater, its programming ranges from local productions to widely successful and prestigious national plays. Music and dance, along with a weekly schedule of movie premieres, complete the annual lineup of this building, which opened in 1914 with a clear ambition to compete with the island’s premier venues.
In fact, the chronicle of its inauguration described it like this:
“But this theater will not be just any theater, like a village hall or a recreational society lounge, but a grand theater that will be able to compete with the best in Palma, and it is already clear that, except for the Principal [of Palma], it will be the most beautiful and handsome in Mallorca.”
Managed by the Teatre Principal Board of Trustees, it features two halls equipped with a stage and a movie screen—with seating capacities for more than 600 and 80 people, respectively—and a multi-purpose space, making it the true heart of cultural life in the capital of Raiguer.
