Being a city in the center of an island like Mallorca inevitably makes it, over time, a benchmark in many aspects of history, industry, culture, and heritage. And Inca has not only been one, but it still continues to be so. From the Museu del Calçat to the Teatre Principal, including its historic buildings, it proves that its title as the capital of the Raiguer is more than well-deserved.

The Museu del Calçat i de la Indústria d’Inca, awarded the 2022 European Museum of the Year – Silletto Prize, is one of the city’s key stops. It is a place that pays tribute to what was, for many years, one of Mallorca’s most significant industries. From the permanent collection of samples and machinery to the curious facts and the people who turned the capital of Raiguer into a benchmark at both European and global levels. This industry was closely linked to leather and leather fashion factories, of which several examples of buildings restored for public and private use are preserved.

But it is also a city with a highly remarkable architectural heritage. The Claustre de Sant Domingo, adjacent to the church of the same name, is one of the city’s most active cultural spaces, housing a library and an exhibition hall, and hosting concerts and shows of all kinds. But without a doubt, the Teatre Principal is the venue with the busiest schedule in the entire town and across the region: concerts, theater, cinema… A long list of activities that allows visitors to enjoy its programming every month of the year.
