Church of Santa Maria la Major

This church is part of the Mallorcan Baroque movement (1706 to 1893). Its architect was Master Jaume Blanquer. From the second half of the 16th century to the 17th century. The characteristic features that can be recognized are the Neoclassical portal, the sculptural group of the Mother of the Angels, and a barrel vault with lunettes.

Important works of art are also preserved inside, such as the Gothic panel painting of Santa María de Inca, painted by Joan Daurer in 1373; the statue of Santa Maria la Major, by Pedro de San Juan (14th-15th century); the Renaissance altarpieces of the Name of Jesus (1587) and Saint Peter (16th-17th century); and the Baroque altarpieces of Saint Sebastian (17th century) and the Holy Christ (1667). An interesting museum can also be visited in the old sacristy, located on the left side of the presbytery.
