The Museum of Footwear and Industry is the leading industrial museum in the Balearic Islands. It is a community museum with focus on the history and manufacture of footwear and its ancillary industries, from the 13th century to the present day. All the items in the collection have been either donated or given on loan by local companies or individuals.
The Museum is located in one of the pavilions of the old General Luque Cavalry Barracks, which was renovated in the 2000s. The Museum hosts temporary exhibitions related to its theme and has a large permanent exhibition showcasing traditional manufacturing tools, machines from old local factories in the area, a collection of vintage shoes, photographs, designs, magazines, advertising material and many art objects. It also houses a Cabinet of Wonders displaying curious and fascinating pieces related to the world of footwear. The Museum offers visitors dramatised audio guides, guided tours, age-appropriate and accessible itineraries and also an educational area for families.
Visiting hours: Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm, Friday from 9 am to 6 pm.
